Transformational Change
Restructures. Rebrands. New strategic directions. Important programmes you know will transform your organisation – for the better. So what is it about change in the workplace that often sends people into a spin?
Supporting people through change
Humans are one of the most adaptable species on the planet. Change doesn’t scare us. Yet the way it’s communicated can.
You can’t force people to change. You can excite them about the possibilities.
That takes a deep understanding of human behaviour. And we’ve got it. Sorted.
So let’s team up to unleash new possibilities. Inspire your leaders to champion the changes. And together we’ll get your people geared up to drive your business forward.
When five become one. Bringing employees together behind a new single brand
Employees were very brand-loyal. And the merger would significantly change the way they worked.
We knew that called for a sensitive, phased approach.
Empowering your team to navigate transformation with confidence.
Change champions. Evolutionary heroes. Leaders who live the changes. Employees who breathe life into them. They’re all within reach. So go grab them.
Getting people on board means leading the change in a way that informs and inspires them. So they understand what the change is about, what they can gain from it, and how their role fits into it all.
From rich conversations to experiential learning, we’ll break down the changes for them. Clear the path. And paint a vivid, captivating big picture that draws them right in.
Because when your people can answer ‘What’s in it for me?’ with aplomb then you know you’re onto a winner.
What exactly is transformational change?
It’s a big change that goes beyond
the day-to-day.
A radical shift in the way an organisation operates and that normally has a big effect on the people who work there.
Transformational change could be about getting a shiny new structure in place, landing a brilliant new strategy, or introducing new ways of doing things, new systems or processes. It might be an office relocation, going through a merger or floating on the stock exchange.
Transformational change may be happening because of something that’s out of your control, like regulatory changes or the need to innovate to stay competitive, or the need to push the envelope with technology.
Whatever the reason for transformational change it can have an unsettling effect on employees – and uncertainty and resistance to change may pose challenges.
So straight talking and clear communication are absolutely key to supporting transformational change.
How can communication help support transformational change in my organisation?
Change can be daunting.
When transformational change is happening, internal communication can provide a corridor of calm. It’s often not that employees don’t like change, it’s that they don’t like the way change is happening to them. So communicate well and your employees are in the know, prepared and understanding of how the change will affect them.
What exactly is important when considering transformational change?
Communicating a clear vision for transformational change will mean employees understand the thinking behind it, where the organisation is trying to get to and what it means for them as individuals, their colleagues and peers.
Leadership is there to lead the line in all of this with clear and easily digestible communication.
Allowing for regular opportunities for two-way communication means people can discuss and question the changes, download their thoughts and feelings and talk through anything that may be bothering them.
Consistency of messaging is essential – everything needs to work in concert. So stopping any mixed messages in their tracks and breathing clarity and consistency into comms is the way through transformational change.
