All over the world…
there are 30,000-year-old cave paintings recording the earliest stories of human existence. From the animal fables of Native American Tribes to modern-day blockbusters, for as long as there have been humans, there have been stories.
But why are stories so enduring? There’s actually quite a lot of reasons. Here’s just a few.
Well…
They help us feel in control. Bringing order to the randomness of life. The best tales have a beginning, middle and end: and the end of the story often rounds things off in a satisfying way.
Stories tap into our emotions. We connect with them at a deeper level.

As humans, we’re not predisposed to remember data. And data doesn’t often make for a great story. Thus, the answer is stories – we’re predisposed to consume, tell, embellish and retell.

Stories ought to be a go-to in the IC toolkit – putting people at the heart of the message. When businesses celebrate employees as part of their story, employees make the business part of their own personal story.
