A strategy that needed connection – not just communication 

As a nationwide automotive retailer operating across 60 locations, TrustFord’s annual conference had to rally 3,000 colleagues around an ambitious new growth strategy.

But the traditional top-down format was losing impact. Long presentations. Polished scripts. Passive viewing. Engagement was low, and connection was missing.

The strategy itself wasn’t the problem. The delivery was.

If TrustFord wanted colleagues to believe in its future, leadership needed to feel closer, more authentic – and more human.

Turning leadership from monologue into conversation

Instead of another scripted broadcast, we reimagined the conference as a week-long digital experience designed for participation, not passive consumption.

We created 11 short, sharp videos featuring senior leaders speaking with warmth, humour and honesty. Without heavy scripting, their personalities came through  – restoring the human connection that live events often generate but virtual formats often lose.

Delivered across TrustFord’s Engage app over five days, the format was intentionally built to sustain rhythm and interaction rather than compress everything into a single broadcast.

By removing rigid scripts and encouraging authenticity, leaders connected in ways that felt real and relatable.

Design for participation, not presentation

Shorter videos, interactive polls and threaded discussions transformed the experience from broadcast to dialogue — giving colleagues space to reflect, respond and contribute.

Keep momentum building

A week-long format created rhythm and anticipation – sustaining engagement rather than exhausting it in a one sitting.

From passive viewing to active belief

The shift in tone and format delivered immediate results. Colleagues didn’t just watch the strategy – they engaged with it. Understanding deepened. Participation rose. And leadership felt closer than ever.

Conference engagement soared by 76% with colleagues calling it “the best yet” – setting a new benchmark for how strategy and leadership communication could look and feel across the business.
