Engaging employees in a bold new business plan
Anchor had just developed an ambitious growth plan, and required an engaging internal communications programme to ensure that everyone connected with the new ways of working and were crystal clear on the role they played. Success hinged on creating a programme that met the diverse needs of all their colleagues.
Making it happen
Our key focus was to build an engagement programme that was primarily visual and experiential. We brought the story behind Anchor’s strategic enablers to life through an easy-to-understand strategic narrative, linking throughout to the growth objectives. The story was shared across the organisation in an engaging 90-second animation, that summarised the entire plan. Leader-led events built excitement and interest, and a manager-conversation approach was shaped and fine-tuned through a series of experiential activities. Messaging was reinforced through phone covers, real-life stories on the intranet, weekly blogs from the CEO, and monthly ‘team talks’.
90% of employees agreed that they understood the role they played in achieving the goals, and the buzz around the strategy was further evidenced by:
• a 40% increase in agreement with the statement, ‘Anchor inspires me to go the extra mile’
• a 100% increase in agreement with the statement ‘I am clear on our strategy’
• and an increase from 67% to 91% in the number of people who were confident about the organisation’s direction.
